Dance Camp
2 days of Dance Camp just passed and I miss it terribly :(Day 1:
Contemporary: We came late because some people missed the train so people were already in the middle of a routine. It was so hard to learn when you just have to immediately pick it up! Contemporary was alright. I didn't really like it, it wasn't that great compared to the other stuff. We learnt an aboriginal routine and it was hard for me because I couldn't do a shoulder lift. But the guys made it so worthwhile! They couldn't stretch that far and they were full lost in the routine. Love them!
Hip Hop: Hip Hop was the best workshop in the entire 2 days that I went to dance camp. Our choreographer was Rhiannon Villareal, who was a semi finalist on So You Think You Can Dance. Alex kept on awing at her 'sexy body' and her V-line. She was really pretty! And she's such a great dancer, but she's kind of short. We danced to 'Only girl in the world'. The choreo was so good! I really liked it, but felt sorry for the guys because it was very girly LOL.
Jazz: Jazz was okay. I didn't really like it because I had that bitchy teacher with Attitude. She's so rude, she doesn't even use manners at all, and she's snappy. Plain rude. Well anyway, we did two short routines to 'All that Jazz' and 'A good time'. Her teaching method was really quick, so the guys had trouble catching on. Didn't really like the 'All that Jazz' routine because it was pretty stupid, but 'A good time' was alright, I got it all, and it was pretty awesome doing the kicks and leaps etc.
Day 2:
Lyrical: We had the best Choreographer ever! His name was Ben Stokes (Couldn't find him on facebook somehow) and he was very...feminine, but he was very funny and energetic! This lyrical routine was to the song 'Crazy for you' by Adele, a song which I am in love with right now. It's basically about someone who is lounging around in the beginning, then getting more spirited at the end. Even the guys liked it! Lyrical was the 3rd best workshop of the entire 2 days of camp.
Musical Theatre: O.M.G I loved Musical Theatre. It's definitely up there on the list, like maybe tied first with Hip Hop. We did Burlesque, and it was HOT. The guys enjoyed it as well, and Ben was such a great choreographer. Everything he choreographed, it was to the beat, the clicks, the booms, the bangs, EVERYTHING! Our aim was to act like we were performing on stage and we had to do everything dramatically and look fierce and sexy at the same time. I enjoyed it so much!
Ballet: Ballet was pretty disappointing. I thought we were doing to focus on the core stuff of ballet, like the exercises and that, but in reality, we did a bit of exercise work and then went straight into the routine. I hid when we did the attitude leaps, because I really hated it, and in the middle of doing exercises, Alejandra started crying because the other girls were telling her off. Then she said she wasn't a good dancer, AS IF. She's the best there, for sure. Miss Macqueen said that she thought the Ballet was disappointing as well. I didn't really like it, I would've just gave it a 6/10 ish?
After camp finished, we got certificates, and then Miss Macqueen shouted us cones at Mcdonalds, but I opted for a Sundae instead. Then some of the boys got chips/burgers, and I just stole some off them. We walked to the station, and then went home. Camp was so fun! I want to go next year as well. It's been a great experience meeting new people, as well as working with some of the best choreographers out there. Even though some workshops weren't as great as I expected, it was still a fun time hanging out with my dance buddies, and stealing food!
